I am leading the research group Sustainability Systems Engineering, with a staff of about 30 pre- and postdoctoral researchers. We steer production and consumption value chains and processes towards sustainability, through developing and employing thorough sustainability assessments, aided by MFA and LCA methods. Amongst other initiatives, European, national, and bilateral projects run on alternative protein sources (cultured meat, seaweed), healthy and environmentally sustainable diets, circular packaging, and optimizing biorefineries.
