I am a molecular microbiologist and group leader at the Laboratory of Microbiology. My expertise is in human microbiome research with more than 100 articles on complex microbial communities (intestinal and oral) published in major journals (including Gut, Gastroenterology, PNAS, Science and Nature Microbiology). My research focuses on microbial ecosystems and their relationship with health and disease, using molecular microbiology in combination with (deep)cultivation. For the oral microbiome I am currently unravelling the reported links with taste perception.
