I am director of the Centre of Excellence in Mycotoxicology and Public Health (CEMPH) at Ghent University. Our group specializes in detecting and quantifying mycotoxins—dietary contaminants from fungi. Over 30 years, CEMPH has developed advanced analytical platforms, including LC-MS/MS and LC-HRMS methods, immunoassays, and biomonitoring tools. CEMPH coordinates MYTOX research platforms and the MYTOX-SOUTH network, tackling mycotoxin issues globally. Key projects include food safety and human health studies, exposomics, and collaborations with organizations like WHO. Recent initiatives include the interdisciplinary FLEXiGUT and UP-RISE projects, focusing on dietary and environmental exposures and improving food safety in African markets.
